Saturday August 8th @ 6pm – BCO Virtual Obon Program

On Saturday August 8th @ 6pm join us for the the presentation of BCO Virtual Obon Program.

Join the online crowd be part of the celebration, dance along with members and friends of BCO.  Enjoy the activity, music and dance of Obon. The virtual program will be streamed live on the BCO YouTube Channel starting at 5:45.  Click on the YouTube logo or Happi Coat logo for links to the program or you can go directly to the Buddhist Church of Oakland’s YouTube Channel.  Hope to see you there.  

 

Curry Rice Drive-Thru Pickup – Saturday Aug 8th 2020

  • Pickup time is 12noon to 2pm. Please do not arrive early.
  • Please “Drive” in at the 9th Street Gate (Kitchen Side).
  • Please follow the signs and line up in the driveway.
  • Please do not park.  Please stay with your car.
  • If you have not paid yet, please have your “check” ready.  Make checks out to “Buddhist Church of Oakland”
  • No extra Curry/Food will be available for sale on Saturday.  We are Sold Out. Pickup for Pre-Orders Only.
  • The Church Office has already contacted the very few members needed to help prepare, package and distribute orders.  Other members (that are not on the helpers list) are asked not to enter Church/Kitchen for this activity.
  • If you have any question concerning your order, please call the Church Office by Friday 9pm.  Please leave a message.

For the Safety of All, the Church/Kitchen/Office/Hall/Chapel will be closed to all visitors, and non-helping members.

4/4/2020 -Message from the Dharma School

Hi Dharma School Families,
Sensei has uploaded the Hanamatsuri Service for tomorrow (please see his message and link pasted below). Also, if you would like to do any of the following and take a picture of your child(ren) watching the service, or getting ready to watch the service with one of the following and send your pictures to us at deikeda@comcast.net, we would love to post them in the next Busshin:
1.  Make paper craft flowers (see links for simple craft ideas) and set them in a vase/cup.
2.  Pick some flowers from your garden and put them in a vase/cup.
3.  Watch the service with your favorite stuffed animals or even your real pets!

Dear BCO Members and Friends,

As a result of the COVID-19 concerns, we have decided to cancel Sunday Services through the end of March (March 15, 22 & 29) in response to the advisories by the Alameda County Public Health Department and other local health departments. The Church Office will also be closed for non-essential business – please call or email if you need assistance: 510-832-5988 or officebco@gmail.com

Rev. Bridge is working on some Dharma Talk videos, we will inform you when those become available on our new YouTube channel.

In the meantime, we ask everyone to please be mindful of the following:

  • Wash your hands often for at least 20 seconds
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick
  • Stay home from work, school and errands if you are sick
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces*

We will continue to keep you updated regarding service schedules, changes and/or cancellation of as decisions are made.
