A mini Mochitsuki is planned for Sunday, December 12, 2021.

Kagami mochi and komochi will be the only options available to order and quantities are limited.

Order deadline is Friday, December 10. Please order early. Limited quantities available…

The Holidays can be a difficult time for some families who struggle to provide the essentials. You can share a gift with a child in need.

Bring a new unwrapped toy in original packaging. Gift Cards will also be accepted.
Drop off Saturday Nov 20th – 1-3pm during Bento Fundraiser Pickup
Drop off Saturday Dec 18th – 12-2pm during See’s Candy Fundraiser Pickup

Toys will be distributed to designated groups in the East Bay.

11/2021 – BCO Fall Bento Fundraiser

The Buddhist Church of Oakland is having a Bento Fundraiser featuring Michael Endo’s delicious Miso Salmon and Edamame Rice. Bentos will be available by pre-sale only. Ordering deadline is Monday November 15th. Orders can be picked up on Saturday November 20 at BCO. Please order early. A limited number of bentos will be available.

BCO Golf Fun Day Outing – Monday September 27th – Berkeley Country Club

The Buddhist Church of Oakland will be holding a Golf Fun Day Outing on Monday, September 27, 2021. This outing is an opportunity for golfers to get out for a day of fun and golf . This will not be a tournament but rather just a day of fun in the sun. Funds raised will benefit the Buddhist Church of Oakland.

8/2/2021 – JapanTown SF – TOKYO 2020 CLOSING CEREMONY BON ODORI

Presented Sunday August 8, 2021 – JapanTown Peace Plaza

NBC Bay Area is proud to host a TOKYO 2020 CLOSING CEREMONY BON ODORI on SUNDAY AUGUST 8, 2021 at the Peace Plaza in historic San Francisco Japantown. This program has been coordinated through the Buddhist Churches of America and Nihonmachi Street Fair. Teresa Ono of the Buddhist Church of San Francisco is the point person for the BCA for this program.

If you know of anyone who would like to serve as an dance instructor during the event, please contact Teresa at: tazono@yahoo.com Instructors will dance among the circles during the Obon door to help lead dancers.

There will be two dance sessions: 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm AND 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm

We will not be doing in-person cemetery visitations this year. Rev. Bridge has been visiting the cemeteries and reciting the sutra. A Memorial Day Weekend video will be posted on our YouTube channel on Friday, May 28 and can be viewed at any time after that.

2/21/2021 – Hanamatsuri Bento Sale – Order by Wed March 24th

BCO is having a bento sales to celebrate Hanamatsuri. Bento dinners are being prepared by professional chief Royce Mori in collaboration with SACBC.

Please per-order your bento by Wednesday March 24th.
Drive-Thur Pickup on Saturday April 3rd between 11:30am and 2:00pm at BCO Parking Lot.

If you are having someone else pickup your bento order, please note it on your order or let us know.
Also, if paying by check, please mail it to Church by March 24th, or bring it when picking up.
