New Tag Orders – ” Tag Order Deadline Sunday July 28 (CLOSED)

The Buddhist Church of Oakland will again celebrate Obon Festival Program on August 3, 2024. As in the past, we will be honoring past family members and friends with Lantern Tags. If you would like your family member or family friend to be recognized, please complete this form and return it to the Church office by Sunday July 28, 2024. There is a printable .pdf form (Click Here).

  • Names will be printed on a Tag. The tag will be hung from a Lantern during Obon.
  • Renewal: Pleases resubmit Names from previous years. 
  • Suggested Donation is $20 per current/existing name and $35 per new name.

  • If you know the Japanese Kanji characters please submit them on the “printed” form.  Thank you.

  • Please call Church Office at (510) 832-5988 for “late” Lantern Tag Registration. Requests made after Sunday July 31st may not be printed in time to be hung on a Lantern. Please order early.


*Due to the number of Memorial Lantern Tags, we cannot guarantee the location of your tags. We will NOT take any request for specific locations or areas for displaying your Tag.
